Birding is an intriguing and tranquil activity that offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature and enhance your cannabis experience.

Here are some species you are sure to see when birding around Marin County:

Dark-Eyed Junco

You will see these ground-loving birds hopping around the bases of trees in coniferous or mixed woodland habitats. They can also be found in woodland edges, thickets, brushy places, and suburban areas.

Lesser Goldfinch

Recognized by their bright yellow underbelly, these small songbirds can be found among large flocks; feeding in weedy fields, budding treetops, and the brush of open areas and edges.

Golden-Crowned Sparrow

This is a common bird among the weedy or shrubby lowlands and gets its name from the yellow, crown-like marking on the top of its head. You may find one in the local park or even in your garden.

Red-Tailed Hawk

A true predator of the sky, the red-tailed hawk can be found flying high in the marine headlands. Head to “Hawk Hill” to take a gander at these incredible raptors. The best time to spot them is from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Northern Spotted Owl

These nocturnal birds can be found in forested areas. The average population is high in Marin County, which is positive for this threatened species. They nest in conifers, oaks, bays, and madrones.
